From December 1 to 5, Tang Pingqiu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi Minzu University (GXMZU), led a delegation on a visit to Vietnam and Laos. The delegation held working talks with the Vietnam University of Commerce (VUC), Hanoi Law University (HLU), and the National University of Laos (NUOL), attended the Confucius Institute Day 2025 & the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the Confucius Institute at NUOL, paid courtesy calls to the Embassy of PRC in Laos and the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, and visited the Confucius Classroom at Vientiane High School.

On the morning of December 2, the delegation visited VUC and held discussions with Vice Rector Ha Van Su. Both sides reviewed cooperative achievements since the establishment of ties in 2005 and expressed resolve to deepen cooperation and elevate bilateral relations to new heights. In the afternoon, the delegation visited HLU for talks with Chu Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of the HLU. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on topics of mutual interest and reached important consensus across multiple fields. During the Vietnam visit, Tang Pingqiu also met with GXMZU alumni residing in Vietnam.
On December 3, the delegation paid a courtesy call to Daravone Kittiphanh, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos. Tang Pingqiu briefed attendees on GXMZU’s cooperative exchanges with Lao universities and institutions, as well as the development of the Confucius Institute at NUOL. He expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s continued support. Vice Minister Kittiphanh extended a warm welcome to the delegation, spoke highly of the educational cooperation outcomes between Laos and GXMZU, and commended the Confucius Institute's accomplishments over the past 15 years.
On December 4, the delegation met with Fang Hong, Ambassador of the PRC to Laos. Tang Pingqiu highlighted GXMZU’s cooperative achievements with the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and NUOL, particularly the Confucius Institute’s accomplishments over the last 15 years and thanked the Embassy for its support in the Institute’s development. Ambassador Fang Hong praised GXMZU for leveraging its unique strengths to achieve fruitful exchanges with Laos and other ASEAN countries, and acknowledged the Confucius Institute's efforts in promoting Chinese language education and cultural exchange in Laos.

The Confucius Institute at NUOL holds the Confucius Institute Day 2025 and 15th Anniversary Celebration
During the trip, Tang Pingqiu held talks with Dr. Desanouvong Sengdara, Rector of NUOL, and jointly attended the Confucius Institute Day 2025 & 15th Anniversary Celebration of the Confucius Institute at NUOL. In his address, Tang emphasized, “GXMZU has consistently provided robust support for the Confucius Institute—from dispatching outstanding teaching teams to co-designing innovative programs to pioneering the undergraduate major in Chinese Teacher Education. We have always walked side by side with NUOL every step of the way.” He added that GXMZU will continue to send outstanding teachers to the Institute, strengthen academic exchanges, and work together to build a model of China-Laos educational cooperation.
