Introduction to the School of Management


The School of Management of GUANGXI MINZU UNIVERSITY was founded in May 2000. In July 2003, it was renamed the School of Economics and Management. In March 2005, the School of Economics and Management was divided into the School of Management and the School of Business. In March 2016, the Department of Public Administration was incorporated into the School of Politics and Public Administration. In April 2020, the university adjusted its departmental structure, and four departments of the School of Business, namely the Department of Marketing, Department of Accounting, Department of Logistics, and Department of E-Commerce, were merged into the School of Management. In December 2024, the university restructured its academic programs, transferring the undergraduate Accounting program (Sino-foreign cooperative education) to the School of Management.At present, the School of Management has a total of 3,217 undergraduate students (2,275 regular undergraduates and 942 junior college to undergraduate students) and 414 graduate students (122 academic master's students and 292 professional master's students) on campus. It has developed into a multi-level and multi-disciplinary school integrating undergraduate education, graduate education, international student education and various types of senior talent training.

The School of Management has a first-level discipline master's degree authorization point in Information Resources Management, and three professional degree master's programs: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Tourism Administration (MTA), and Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc). The first-level discipline of Information Resources Management is a doctoral degree authorization point construction unit. It has 6 teaching departments (Department of Business Administration, Department of Operations and Logistics Management, Department of Tourism Management, Department of Information Resources Management, Department of Finance and Accounting, and Department of Sino-British Accounting), and 8 undergraduate majors (Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, E-Commerce, Logistics Management, Tourism Management, Archival Science, and Cultural Industry Management). It owns 3 first-class majors in Guangxi (Business Administration, Accounting, and Archival Science). The school has 1 national first-class undergraduate course: Introduction to Archival Science; 2 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate courses: Introduction to Archival Science and Comprehensive Virtual Simulation of International Business Facing ASEAN; 1 national excellent course: Archival Management; and 3 autonomous region-level excellent courses: Archival Management, Electronic Records Management, and College Students' Innovation Training. It also has a comprehensive experimental center for management disciplines and more than 60 practical education bases, as well as 2 training bases: the China-ASEAN Tourism Talents Education and Training Base (national level) and the Guangxi Archives Talents Education and Training Base (provincial level).

The School of Management boasts an outstanding faculty team with strong scientific research capabilities, a spirit of forging ahead, rigorous scholarship, an optimized structure, mainly composed of masters and doctors, and with professors and associate professors as the backbone. Currently, it has 108 faculty members (including 7 foreign teachers), among whom 47 hold senior titles (3 are second-level professors), 47 have doctoral degrees, 51 are master's supervisors, and 6 are doctoral supervisors. The faculty includes 2 members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, 1 national leading talent in archives, 1 national archives expert, 4 national reserve experts in archives, 1 young expert of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 1 Bagui Distinguished Teacher, 1 top 100 academic leader in Guangxi universities, 2 academic leaders of key disciplines in Guangxi universities, 1 management consulting expert of Guangxi Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Innovation and Technology Service Network, 5 top-notch accounting talents in Guangxi's "Ten-Hundred-Thousand" program, 6 talents supported by the Guangxi Thousands of Young Backbone Teachers Training Program, and 1 expert of Guangxi Brand Development Promotion Association. In addition, the school has invited a number of well-known domestic scholars and entrepreneurs as part-time professors and cooperative supervisors.

The School of Management has strong scientific research strength and owns 6 provincial, university-level and school-level research institutions (such as the Border and Ethnic Region Archival Science Research Center, Tourism Planning Research Center, and Human Resource Management Research Institute). In recent years, the faculty of the school have undertaken more than 30 national-level projects, over 70 provincial-level projects, more than 50 department-level projects, and more than 20 horizontal projects. They have published over 40 monographs and textbooks, and more than 600 papers in core journals, and won more than 20 provincial-level awards.

Over the years, focusing on ASEAN, the school has developed the "3+1" education and training model, striving to cultivate compound senior management talents with innovative spirit, forward-looking vision and international perspective. That is, it implements the "3+1" international talent training model combining "major + foreign language" and "domestic + overseas". Students majoring in Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, E-Commerce, Logistics Management, Tourism Management and other majors can choose Vietnamese, Thai or English as their language direction, studying in China for 3 years and in the corresponding country for 1 year. At the same time, the school deepens practical teaching, carries out various forms of social practice teaching, and has achieved remarkable results in promoting learning through competitions. Students have won the first prize in the National Business Operation Simulation Competition (BIZAIM), the second prize in the South China Region of the National Human Resource Competition, the second prize in the National Business Management Skills Competition (BIZWAR), the first, second and third prizes in the National College Students Red Tourism Creative Planning Competition, the first prize in the preliminary round of the "FLTRP Cup" National English Writing Competition, the silver award in the National "Peak Time" Hotel Management Simulation Competition, the first prize in the National University Tourism Innovation Planning Competition, the "Excellence Award" in the National College Students Environmental Protection Knowledge Competition, the Excellence Award in the National College Students English Competition, and the national first prize in the College Students Network Business Application Competition, etc. Meanwhile, the school has achieved excellent results in previous discipline competitions such as the National College Students "Challenge Cup" Competition, the "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the National College Students English Competition.

During the 25 years of school-running, the school has fostered the school-running philosophy of "Establishing the school by quality, strengthening the school by talents, prospering the school by harmony, and promoting the school by service", and is committed to building a characteristic "Five-Type" school featuring intelligence, innovation, harmony, happiness and charm. The graduates of the school have high comprehensive quality and strong competitiveness, and enjoy good employment advantages. Their employment destinations include state organs, enterprises and institutions, schools, foreign-related departments and various enterprises across the country. Graduates have great development potential, and the number of those applying for postgraduate studies is increasing year by year, with many students being admitted to postgraduate programs in domestic and foreign universities for further study. Every year, a large number of graduates go abroad to start businesses and develop. With the joint efforts of all faculty and students, the school has won many honorary titles such as "National Advanced Class Collective", "National Model Staff Home", "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of Guangxi Colleges and Universities", and "Guangxi May Fourth Red Flag Sub-Youth League Committee (General Branch)".
