Following GXUN’s time-honored tradition of being oriented towards the ethnic minorities, the ASEAN region and internationalization, the faculty members are actively engaged in a wide array of research fields, in particular to translation studies, cognitive linguistics, English literature, French literature and comparative literature. They have published a large number of high-quality academic papers and monographs, some of which have won prizes at the provincial level or above.
The curricula of the language programs empower students with creativity, critical thinking and international vision. Meanwhile, the students majoring in translation/interpreting, through rigorous training in both translation and interpreting skills, will foster intercultural communicative competence, building strength in critical and analytical thinking, research capacity and problem-solving strategies.
For 14 successive years, teachers and students of SFS have worked as translators /interpreters for the China-ASEAN Expo and other important international events. Thanks to the well-planned curricula and extra-curricular practice, graduates of SFS are highly sought after by employers in various sectors. Thousands of graduates have made important contributions to the economic and social development of China as well as to international exchanges between China and the rest of the world.
